Now that the highly anticipated action RPG sequel has finally been released on PlayStation consoles, many are wondering whether or not Guerrilla Games has any DLC expansions in the works as seen with the original years ago. Here's a breakdown of whether or not Horizon Forbidden West will have DLC.

Will Horizon Forbidden West Have DLC?

At the time of writing, Guerrilla Games and Sony have yet to announce whether or not Horizon Forbidden West will DLC.

None of its day one editions and pre-order bonuses mention plans for DLC expansions either.

However, that's not to say that it doesn't appear likely.

Many have pointed out that the game's makers have been marketing the standard edition of Horizon Forbidden West as "Launch Edition," implying of course that there will be something big coming down the line.

Another encouraging sign is simply looking at how Horizon Zero Dawn's DLC was handled.

After Horizon Zero Dawn initially released for just PS4 on Feb. 28, 2017, the huge expansion Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds released on Nov. 7, 2017, featuring new lands, skills weapons and Machines.

Although it was the game's lone DLC expansion, it was so successful that the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition soon dropped on Aug. 7, 2020, and remains available on PC to this day.

Just as Guerrilla Games and Sony currently maintain that "there are no plans to bring Horizon Forbidden West to any other platforms at this time," it seems likely that both a DLC expansion and a PC release will eventually be realized for HFW at some point.
