Will OpTic Gaming Stay in First after Week Three?

OpTic Gaming has risen to the top of the standing after the first two weeks of play in summer split. With four wins and not a single loss, OpTic has shown that they can play at a level that puts them in the discussion to be considered one of the top-tier teams.

The first two weeks of a LCS split are by no means a good indicator of how the teams will fan out by the end of the split. With this being said, having four wins under your belt in the LCS is a fantastic way to start out. The only way for OpTic to have had a better start is if they had beaten four potentially top LCS teams.

OpTic's schedule for the first two weeks was not one where it would have been particularly hard to come out with no losses. On the other hand, OpTic was not a team that was thought to be very strong before the split started. With both of these factors in mind, OpTic's first two weeks have been very good for them.

A lot rests on this upcoming weekend for OpTic. They will be playing Cloud9 on Saturday and Team Liquid on Sunday. Both Cloud9 and Team Liquid are extremely tough opponents. Cloud9 is curretly tied for second with a 3-1 record. Team Liquid is coming off of a second place finish at the Mid-Season Invitational. OpTic picking up a win against either team would be a very good sign for for them.

As you may know, this will most likely be OpTic's last split in the LCS. This puts even more weight on their final standing for both the team and the players individually. Not much is known about how much will change due to the re-branding of OpTic into Immortals. This could mean that the players of OpTic are potentially playing to keep a spot on the team for next split or prove to other teams they are worth picking up. On top of this, OpTic will most likely not return to the LCS for a very long time if ever, so this split could be there last chance to will an LCS split ever.

If you can make time, I would definitely recommend watching both Optics versus Cloud9 and OpTic versus Team Liquid this weekend. Both games are sure to be close matches with a lot on the line for every team involved.
