Will Overwatch 2 be Cross-Platform?

After five long-awaited years of its player base asking for cross-platform play, Overwatch is finally getting it. This begs the question: will Overwatch 2 be cross-platform as well?

Blizzard announced today that players will be able to play cross-play on Overwatch with whomever they choose to, whether they’re on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S or the Nintendo Switch, they can all play with their friends.

There hasn’t been an exact date yet for cross-platform’s official release but Blizzard says that the beta will begin “soon."

This update comes before the release of Overwatch 2 which hasn’t had a proper release date confirmed yet.

Will Overwatch 2 be Cross-Platform?

With no official release date yet for cross-platform or Overwatch 2 it’s difficult to guess if cross-platform play will be in the longly anticipated sequel of Overwatch. One can still surmise that if the cross-platform play goes well for Overwatch, Blizzard will undoubtedly make it a feature for Overwatch 2.

Blizzard is currently making Overwatch 2 and the sequel will feature a larger focus on cooperative PvE play, will introduce a new game mode, and will shake up team sizes and compositions. Soujourn will also join the Hero roster upon release.
