Competitive multiplayer sci-if shooter Splitgate has exploded onto the gaming scene recently, causing players to look toward the game with interest.
Of this interest, of course, is how much continuing to play will run them. When the game went into its open beta period, its poor servers nearly imploded due to the sheer number of users eager to get in on the fast-paced, portal-based fun. Despite a release delay, however, fans know the beta can’t last forever.
What will happen when the development team decides Splitgate is finally ready for shelves?
Will Splitgate be Free After Beta?
Yes, fans of this sci-if shooter will not have to worry about any mandatory purchases following the game’s open beta. Splitgate is 100% free and is slated to be so post-launch. All maps, modes, and experience-based content will not be locked behind a paywall of any kind. Instead of a base game purchase or subscription model, the only monetary decisions players will need to make concern which skin to buy.
Purchases will be exclusively cosmetic and obtainable via lootboxes, completed in-game challenges, and so on. Nothing players will be able to buy will have any impact on gameplay aside from being able to flash the newest appearance for a favorite weapon.
Splitgate was originally set for release on July 27. However, since the intense uptick in its popularity, the developers have gone back on that date and delayed it until later this month.
