Revenant will be the last Nightfarer you unlock in Elden Ring: Nightreign’s base game, and she’s also one of the most interesting characters you can play as. She’s not a simple caster like Recluse, she’s a summoner. Using her three summoned “family members” in battle effectively is a playstyle of its own, and then you have to think about Revenant’s best weapons on top of that.

For everything you need to play as Revenant in Elden Ring: Nightreign, just read through our full breakdown of all of her skills and abilities below. But first, make sure you’ve unlocked Revenant as a playable character.

A character’s attributes tell you two things: what their starting stats will be in terms of health, stamina, magic pool, and strength, and what weapons they’re most comfortable with. The highest possible stat is an S, followed by A, B, C, D, and E as the lowest.

Here’s what each stat means:

  • HP - How large your health pool is.
  • FP - How large your mana pool is.
  • Stamina - How large your stamina gauge is.
  • Strength - How much physical damage you can deal, scaling with colossal weapons.
  • Dexterity - Proficiency with daggers, bows, katanas, and other fast weapons.
  • Intelligence - Your magical potency, impacting the power of sorceries. Scales well with weapons such as the Moonveil katana and Fallingstar Beast Jaw.
  • Faith - How effective your healing and holy incantations are. Scales with weapons such as Golden Epitaph and Erdtree Greatbow.
  • Arcane - Holy damage and death blight negation. Increases blood loss buildup for bleeding weapons. Scales with weapons such as Serpent Bow and Rivers of Blood.

Revenant abilities breakdown – ER Nightreign

Revenant’s abilities are some of the most interesting – and potentially most useful – in the entire game. Her primary use is summoning one of three spectral phantoms, and she also has a chance to summon a phantom of non-boss enemies that she gets the final hit on. Ensuring you always have a summon active, and waiting for the right time to use her Ultimate Art, is the best way to win as Revenant.

Passive Ability: Necromancy

When Revenant gets the final hit on a foe, there’s a chance it will be summoned as a phantom to assist you in battle for one minute. You can summon many foes at once using this technique, if you’re lucky, and as a team they can overwhelm tough enemies.

Character Skill: Summon Spire

Revenant plays her harp and summons one of three phantoms to distract foes and fight alongside the team. These phantoms are referred to as Revenant’s “family” in descriptions of Relics and more. The three summons are Helen the Page, Frederick the Pumpkin Head, and Sebastian the Giant Skeleton. When summons lose all of their health they die, but automatically restore health when not summoned. They will even restore health while another summon is on the field, so you will rarely be without a summoned ally. Summons have varying amounts of health and mobility, so be sure to pick the appropriate summon for each fight.

Ultimate Art: Immortal March

Revenant won’t let her family die, nor her team. Immortal March will revive any downed allies, and will also make your summoned family member immortal for a short time, in addition to having them unleash their ultimate ability. Each family member has a unique ultimate ability, and you should experiment to see what each has to offer.

Revenant’s best weapons – ER Nightreign

On the surface, Revenant seems like an alternative to Recluse. While her magical abilities are a force to be reckoned with, for sure, her inability to absorb FP makes it difficult for her to spam spells in battle, especially for extended fights. As a result, having a bow on hand as a backup weapon is almost essential, as is collecting FP restorative items like Starlight Shards.

The primary game plan is to use summons to distract while using Sorceries and Incantations that primarily scale with Faith. Dragon Incantations are good for this. A priority should be saving the Immortal March Ultimate Art for dire situations, such as when two allies are downed, as it can entirely turn the tide of battle. Even though Revenant is best for Incantations and Sorceries, you shouldn’t be afraid to try using melee weapons that also scale with Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane. Just be wary of your incredibly low HP, and only approach when it’s truly safe.
