Honkai: Star Rail – Pela build and ascension guide
By Marco Wutz

Break through the defense of your enemies with the best Honkai: Star Rail Pela build and strike where they are weak. Pela follows the Path of The Nihility and specializes in dealing Ice DMG, debuffing the DEF stat of opponents to make life easier for her party.
Table of Contents
Pela’s Skill, Frostbite, deals Ice DMG based on her ATK to a single enemy and removes one buff from the target.
Her Ultimate, Zone Suppression, dishes out Ice DMG to all opponents based on Pela’s ATK and inflicts the Exposed status effect on them. Exposed reduces the DEF stat for two turns. Pela’s Talent, Data Collecting, helps you activate this Ultimate as often as possible by restoring Energy to her if an attack leaves an enemy debuffed.
Pela gains additional Energy Regeneration from her first Eidolon level, which grants her five Energy for every defeated enemy. You can obtain Eidolon levels by getting duplicates of a character. Eidolon 2 boosts Pela’s SPD after she debuffed an enemy for two turns, Eidolon 4 additionally reduces the Ice RES of the target hit by her Skill making her especially great with an Ice DMG Main DPS, and Eidolon 6 increases her own damage against debuffed opponents.
Honkai: Star Rail – Pela: best Light Cones
Busted event-exclusive Light Cone Before the Tutorial Mission Starts is the perfect choice for Pela, granting her additional Effect Hit Rate and regenerating Energy to her when attacking a foe with reduced DEF. Fortunately, anyone who’s missed this event from Version 1.1 can buy this piece of equipment in Herta’s Shop nowadays, so you can easily unlock it for free.
Other than that, Pela performs great with any Light Cone granting her Effect Hit Rate or being able to inflict debuffs on enemies.
Best Light Cones for Pela in HSR:
- Before the Tutorial Mission Starts (4-Star)
- Incessant Rain (5-Star)
- In the Name of the World (5-Star)
- Good Night and Sleep Well (4-Star)
- We Will Meet Again (4-Star)

Honkai: Star Rail – Pela: best Relics
As mentioned above, Pela wants as much Effect Hit Rate as possible to make those debuffs stick. SPD and Energy Regeneration are additional concerns, ensuring that she can act early and get her Ultimate up as often as possible.
This is why Eagle of Twilight Line is a great Relic choice for her, despite the Wind DMG buff being completely useless. Having her next action after an Ultimate sped up allows her to get Energy again more quickly, overall leading to higher Ultimate uptime.
Best Relic Sets for Pela in HSR:
- Eagle of Twilight Line (4) – +10% Wind DMG, wearer’s next action gets Advanced Forward by 25% after they use their Ultimate.
- Hunter of the Glacial Forest (4) – +10% Ice DMG, +25% CRIT DMG for the wearer for two turns after activating their Ultimate.

Honkai: Star Rail – Pela: best teams
Pela is a fantastic addition to all kinds of teams thanks to her universal utility — after all, everyone benefits from having the enemy’s DEF reduced.
- Acheron (Main DPS), Jiaoqiu (Support), Pela (Support), Aventurine (Support)
Acheron benefits from Pela in several ways: Having more Nihility characters on her team is activating her Trace and Relic effects, debuffs charge her Ultimate, and DEF reduction gets those damage numbers up nicely. Jiaoqiu is another powerful debuff character. Aventurine mainly keeps the team safe, but can also inflict debuffs to support Acheron.

Characters like Cipher, Fugue, Kafka, or Black Swan are powerful alternatives to Jiaoqiu, though they don’t quite reach his debuff effectiveness.
Honkai: Star Rail – Pela: ascension materials
Here’s everything you need to know to get Pela ascended to the maximum level and upgrade all of her talents.
Pela requires the following ascension materials to get to level 80 in addition to the necessary XP:
- Credits x246,000
- Extinguished Core x12
- Glimmering Core x13
- Squirming Core x12
- Horn of Snow x50
You can obtain Cores from enemies in Backwater Pass and Rivet Town as well as the Simulated Universe. You can create or exchange them through the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express, too. Extinguished Cores are one of the base materials you can easily farm through the Daily Assignments to your characters, making for a steady income of the material.
Horns of Snow are dropped by the Stagnant Shadow (Corridor of Fading Echoes) or gained through the exchange of similarly rare materials. The best source of Credits are the Golden Calyxes found around the cosmos.
Pela requires the following materials to upgrade her combat abilities and Traces:
- Credits x2,400,000
- Extinguished Core x28
- Glimmering Core x42
- Squirming Core x42
- Obsidian of Dread x12
- Obsidian of Desolation x54
- Obsidian of Obsession x105

For the materials already mentioned, check above. Obsidians can be farmed in the Crimson Calyx (Great Mine). As usual, you can create the high-level materials by using lower-level materials in the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express.
Guardian’s Lament is a boss material only gained from the Echo of War (Everwinter Hill) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward.
