Honkai: Star Rail – Yukong build and ascension guide
By Marco Wutz

Chase the wind and embolden your allies with the best Honkai: Star Rail Yukong build. This ace pilot who climbed the career ladder to the top of the Sky-Faring Commission follows the Path of The Harmony and deals Imaginary DMG, though her main strength is to buff up other members of her party.
Table of Contents
Yukong’s Skill, Emboldening Salvo, grants her two stacks of Roaring Bowstrings (of which she can maximally have two at the same time). As long as one stack is active, all allies gain ATK. One stack of Roaring Bowstrings gets depleted every time an allied character ends their turn.
Her Ultimate, Diving Kestrel, deals Imaginary DMG to a single enemy based on Yukong’s ATK. If Roaring Bowstrings is active while the Ultimate is used, the buff additionally provides CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate to all allies.
Her Talent, Seven Layers, One Arrow, increases the Toughness Reduction of her Basic Attack and bolsters its Imaginary DMG based on Yukong’s ATK every second turn.
Obtaining additional copies of Yukong raises her Eidolon Level, unlocking additional benefits. Level 1 automatically increases the SPD of all allies once Yukong enters battle, while Level 2 regenerates Energy for Yukong whenever an ally reaches their Energy limit. Level 4 increases Yukong’s own damage in the presence of Roaring Bowstrings, while Level 6 generates a stack of Roaring Bowstrings when Yukong activates her Ultimate.
Honkai: Star Rail – Yukong: best Light Cones
Yukong’s supporting abilities don’t rely on her own stats, so you’re fairly free when it comes to her equipment. Sparkle’s Earthly Escapade and Robin’s Flowing Nightglow are both powerful picks as Yukong’s Light Cones, maximizing her personal damage on top of providing support capabilities.
Best Light Cones for Yukong in HSR:
- Earthly Escapade (5-Star)
- Flowing Nightglow (5-Star)
- Past and Future (4-Star)
- Poised to Bloom (4-Star)
- Dance! Dance! Dance! (4-Star)
Honkai: Star Rail – Yukong: best Relics
Although you could build Yukong to squeeze out more damage from her, this is never going to amount to anything substantial, so it’s recommended to focus on her survivability instead. One exception is SPD, which is vital as Yukong’s buff only affects characters moving after her — so you’ll want her to take the lead. Unfortunately, Yukong can’t use the best support Relic Sets as her abilities target enemies instead of allies, wasting some of her potential.
Best Relic Sets for Yukong in HSR:
- Messenger Traversing Hackerspace (2) + Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal – +6% SPD x2
Best Planar Ornaments for Yukong in HSR:
- Broken Keel (2) – +10% Effect RES, +10% CRIT DMG for all allies if the wearer’s Effect RES surpasses 30%.
- Fleet of the Ageless (2) – +12% Max HP, +8% ATK for all allies if the wearer’s SPD surpasses 120.
Prioritize the following Relic and Planar Ornament stats for Yukong:
- Head – HP (Primary), SPD, Effect RES, HP %, DEF %
- Hands – ATK (Primary), SPD, Effect RES, HP %, DEF %
- Body – HP % (Primary), SPD, Effect RES, DEF %, HP
- Feet – SPD (Primary), Effect RES, HP%, DEF %, HP
- Planar Sphere – HP % (Primary), SPD, Effect RES, DEF %, HP
- Link Rope – Energy Regeneration (Primary), SPD, Effect RES, HP %, DEF %
Honkai: Star Rail – Yukong: best teams
Yukong’s half-focus on dealing damage and half-focus on supporting her team has led to her being somewhat subpar in both areas, though certain teams still get a lot of value out of her.
- Imbibitor Lunae (Main DPS), Sparkle (Support), Yukong (Support), Luocha (Support)
This team concentrates on empowering Imbibitor Lunae. Sparkle delivers buffs and restores Skill Points, providing the Main DPS with the necessary ammunition to fight effectively. While Yukong can support up to two DPS units with her buff, having only a single DPS on the team isn’t an issue — and it’s best if as many of her party mates as possible deal Imaginary DMG, since one of Yukong’s Traces passively boosts the entire team’s Imaginary DMG output. We round this composition out with Luocha, who can make use of Yukong’s buffs and doesn’t require a lot of Skill Points to keep the team healthy.
Honkai: Star Rail – Yukong: ascension materials
Here’s everything you need to know to get Yukong ascended to the maximum level and upgrade all of her talents.
Yukong requires the following ascension materials to get to level 80 in addition to the necessary XP:
- Credits x246,000
- Artifex’s Module x12
- Artifex’s Cogwheel x13
- Artifex’s Gyreheart x12
- Golden Crown of the Past Shadow x50
You can collect Artifex’s Modules, Cogwheels, and Gyrehearts from Entranced Ingenia and other enemies on the Luofo as well as the Simulated Universe. You can create or exchange them through the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express, too. Artifex’s Modules are one of the base materials you can easily farm through the Daily Assignments to your characters, making for a steady income of the material.
Golden Crowns of the Past Shadow are dropped by the Stagnant Shadow (Backwater Pass) or gained through the exchange of similarly rare materials. The best source of Credits are the Golden Calyxes found across the cosmos.
Yukong requires the following materials to upgrade her combat abilities and Traces:
- Credits x2,400,000
- Artifex’s Module x28
- Artifex’s Cogwheel x42
- Artifex’s Gyreheart x42
- Harmonic Tune x12
- Ancestral Hymn x54
- Stellaris Symphony x105
- Destroyer’s Final Road x12
- Tracks of Destiny x5
For the materials already mentioned, check above. Harmonic Tune, Ancestral Hymn, and Stellaris Symphony can be farmed in the Crimson Calyx (Robot Settlement) in Belobog’s Underworld. As usual, you can create the high-level materials by using up lower-level materials in the Omni-Synthesizer on the Astral Express.
Destroyer’s Final Road is rarer material only gained from the Echo of War (Supply Zone) domain, while Tracks of Destiny can be obtained during time-limited events, the Embers Exchange, the Nameless Honor, or as a Simulated Universe Points Reward.
