HSR 3.4 – What to put on Talanton’s scales in the trial against Mydei?
By Marco Wutz

In HSR 3.4, we get to experience the journey of Phainon and follow him through several cycles of Amphoreus’ history. Among these is the first time Phainon and Cyrene venture forth from the idyllic Aedes Elysiae to join the Chrysos Heirs in their struggle against the Black Tide.
This cycle also marks the first time Phainon and Mydei encounter each other — with the sparks of friendly rivalry immediately igniting between them. Both of them seek recognition from Aglaea, and so Tribbie holds a trial for them. But instead of dueling to the death, they must compete with their wits and subject themselves to the judgment of Talanton, the Law Titan.
Both Mydei and Phainon need to put something on Talanton’s scales and the item that bears more weight wins. Naturally, weight isn’t meant literally here, which Mydei grasps immediately. The Prince of Kremnos puts his royal ring on the scales, the item that bears all the hopes and dreams of the Kremnoan people as well as his responsibility for them — and since we’re very familiar with Mydei’s backstory, we know what all that means to him, so it’s a powerful choice.
Phainon asks the Trailblazer for suggestions about what to put on Talanton's scales and they have three to offer:
- The “Deliverer” card…
- The sword you carry…
- A heart of steel…
While a sword and a heart of steel are attractive suggestions, it is the “Deliverer” card that bears the most symbolic weight — it’s Phainon’s dream, purpose, and drive as well as his actual fate.
But it’s only after following his story to the end of the update that you’ll fully appreciate the weight he’s carrying. Suffice to say, the “Deliverer” card is the heaviest object you can put on the scales and is easily enough to win the battle of wits against Mydei, gaining Aglaea’s recognition.
