Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – How to start the Brushes with Death DLC

Now with three million copies sold, the first of two DLC stories for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is here, and you can start the Brushes with Death questline fairly early on in your adventure. That’s not all it adds, as there is also a new questline involving horse racing that you can track down to unlock some new horseriding skills and settle a dispute.

We’ll show you where to start both questlines so you can dive into this DLC right away.

How to start the Brushes with Death questline

The DLC doesn’t unlock until you’ve completed For Whom the Bell Tolls as part of the main questline. This is the quest where you must rescue Hans from the gallows in Trosky Castle after being taken prisoner.

Once you’ve completed it, the marker to begin the quest will appear on the map in the location shown above. It’s a purple shield with a red skull on it, and you can find it roughly halfway between Trosky Castle and Apollonia in the Trosky region. All you need to do is get close and the cutscene will automatically begin, introducing you to the DLC’s central character and setting you off on their quest.

Note that this questline will eventually require you to travel to the Kuttenberg region, meaning you will need to progress the main story to that point eventually.

How to start the Horse riding contest questline

This questline should be available earlier in the game’s story than the DLC, as it’s found in the Nomad’s Camp in the west of the Trosky region. You can start the questline by talking to either Bibrek the Archer or Mikolai the Horse Handler in the camp, both of whom will be marked with a quest icon, as shown above.
