Persona 5: The Phantom X – Best Summer Closer build, team comp, and Revelation Cards
By Ryan Woodrow

Closer has gotten an upgrade with the P5X Version 2.1 update with her summer outfit turning her from a 4-start Electric-element character to a 5-star Bless-element character that has far more staying power as far as usability goes. She’s one of the most effective and reliable Sweepers in the game, and one of the only Bless-based attackers that will ever be added to the roster, so you’ll want to build her properly.
We’ll cover everything you need to know to get the most out of Summer Closer/Trophical Motoha, including how best to use her skills, who to team her with, and the best Revelation Cards to give her.

What does Tropical Heart do?
You build up Tropical Heart by healing Summer Closer. A few of her skills rely on her being above 50% HP while also spending that HP on skills. So you’re expected to pair her with a character like Mirian so you can constantly heal her. Every time Closer receives healing, her Attack will increase by 25% for 2 turns, and after being healed five times, Tropical Heart activates.
Tropical Heart interacts with Closer’s Surf ‘n’ Shine skill, removing the cooldown before you can use it again, letting you more consistently activate Summer Hype, which makes her other attacks stronger.
How to use Summer Closer in P5X
Heal Summer Closer constantly
Even if she’s only lost a sliver of HP, you should be healing her every turn to build up the five stacks required to activate Tropical Heart. As it is, Closer will likely need healing often anyway, as Blue Sunshine – her main offensive skill – will cost her HP, so you’ll want to keep her topped up, especially above 50% HP, as that’s where she does her best damage.
Use Surf ‘n’ Shine whenever possible
Surf ‘n’ Shine activates Closer’s Summer Hype state, which is what pushes her damage through the roof, so if you have that skill available, you should be using it as soon as it comes off of cooldown, as while it’s on cooldown, your other skills will be stronger.
Best team composition for Summer Closer in P5X
- Wonder (with a Bless-element healing Persona)
- Summer Closer
- Mirian
- Chord OR Queen
Summer Closer should be surrounded by healers for three reasons. Firstly, her best skills will cause her to expend HP. While she can’t be KO’ed this way, it will put her in significant danger if you’re not constantly healing her up. Second is her Tropical Heart ability, which massively enhances her damage output thanks to the frequency with which you can use Surf ‘n’ Shine, and to activate it, you’ll need to heal her five times. Finally, several of her skills (and our recommended Revelation Card set) will either activate or be enhanced when Closer is about 50% HP, so you should always be making sure she stays above that threshold.
To this end, Mirian is a must-have, as she’s by far the best healer in the game and can boost Closer’s Bless attacks thanks to sharing the same element. The same logic goes with giving Wonder your best Bless-based healer.
The final slot is a bit open. Chord is always a good option as it’ll buff Closer’s damage and allow her to use her Highlight attack more frequently. However, Queen is also a good option, as she is a powerful DPS unit in her own right, but has a healing ability she can use on Closer in a pinch.
Best weapon for Summer Closer in P5X
The progression for weapons in this game is pretty simple: the more stars a weapon has, the better it is both in terms of stats and its abilities, so you should always try and pull the best weapon possible when building a character. Here are the stats and effects of all of Closer’s weapons:
- Beach Ball (2-star) – HP 105; ATK 28; DEF 14 – Increase Attack by 11.3%.
- Flower Ball (3-star) – HP 126; ATK 34; DEF 17 – When attacking a foe, if the user is above 50% HP, increase Bless damage by 16%.
- Bubble Puff Star (4-star) – HP 168; ATK 45; DEF 23 – Increase Attack by 12%. When receiving healing while Summer Hype is active, increase damage by 7.6% more for 2 turns.
- Colorful Coast (5-star) – HP – Increase Bless damage by 24.2%. When Summer Hyper is active, increase critical damage by 26%. When using Surf ‘n’ Shine when Summer Hype is active, increase that skill’s damage by 34% and gain 1 Sunlight stack. When using a skill or Highlight, spend 1 Sunlight stack to increase the skill’s damage by the same amount.
Best Revelation Cards for Summer Closer in P5X
Summer Closer’s Revelation Cards are a pretty easy choice, as Virtue & Wisdom are the obvious choices. The Virtue set was pretty much specifically built for Closer, giving a 10% boost to Bless damage and a 12% boost to Crit Rate when her HP is above 50%. Wisdom just pushes her DPS potential even higher, as after using a Highlight attack, she’ll receive a 30% Attack boost and a 25% Damage Dealt boost.
