Pokémon Legends Z-A: How to get the Kalos starters

Like the last Legends game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A sets you up with starters from outside of the region the game is set in. Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile are cute and reliable companions, but since this game is set in Kalos, you might want to get your hands on the starters that originate there, Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie.
Thankfully, there’s an easy way to get all three pretty early on in your adventure, so you can add any of them to your team. We’ll explain where to find each of them as soon as possible.

How to get Chespin – Legends ZA
All three of the Kalos starters are attached to side quests, and thankfully, all of them unlock relatively early on in the game, shortly after completing the first set of side quests for Emma as part of the main quest.
The one for Chespin is side quest #7, called “A Feisty Chespin”, and it’s a fairly simple one. You’ll need to fight Chespin at level 14 three times in a row, so bringing any fire-type to the fight should make quick work of it. Once you’ve done that, Chespin will be added to your team.
How to get Fennekin – Legends ZA
Fennekin is side quest #8, called “Get Well, Fennekin”, where you find a man known for herbal remedies to heal a sick Fennekin. He will task you with finding a Revitalizing Twig, which is found in Wild Zone 5.
To get there from the main entrance, you’ll need to bring a water-type who can clear some sludge piles to give you access to a secret garden on the opposite side of where the quest markers are. From there, clear even more sludge along the waterway, and you’ll go through a long tunnel that comes out in the grove where you can find the twigs. Pick up the twigs at the quest markers until you find the right one.
Bring it back to Fennekin to cure them, and they’ll be added to your team.
How to get Froakie – Legends ZA
Froakie might be the one you want most right now, as you can currently get Greninjite through Ranked Battles.
Froakie is obtained through side quest #9, called “A Challenge from Froakie”, where you’ll have to complete three parkour courses up scaffolding under strict time limits. The only thing to watch out for here is the last one, which will require you to either roll or glide over some gaps. Other than that, they’re all fairly straightforward.
Beat all three and Froakie will join your team.
