Latest 9 Kings update completes the royal line-up with the King of Time

All nine monarchs have been assembled.

Sad Socket’s 9 Kings finally holds what it promises in the title: The King of Time has arrived as the ninth playable ruler of the roguelite deck-builder and auto-battler, completing the line-up.

A classy gentleman carrying a walking stick and wearing a top hat, the King of Time commands some rulebreaking powers that should provide fresh spice to your runs. Yes, we’re talking about time travel. Aside from allowing players to set the clock back a couple of years during runs, this monarch’s playstyle is all about the right timing. Some cards incentivize a speedy build-up, while others favor slower strategies. Planning ahead (and keeping an eye on the calendar) has never been more important.

Accompanying the King of Time are balance changes and some quality-of-life improvements, including a fresh Rainbow Perk that allows you to ban specific rulers from showing up in a run.

By assembling the titular number of monarchs, Sad Socket has reached its first major milestone for 9 Kings’ Early Access — but there is more to come, publisher Hooded Horse has promised. Future updates on the road to Version 1.0 will bring brand-new game modes and content to the title.

9 Kings is available via Steam and PC Game Pass.
