It’s a tough time for Ubisoft, which makes it all the more important to celebrate the victories it’s earning — and Anno 1800 surpassing five million players in total certainly is a triumph.
“It’s amazing to see the outpouring of love for this title, 6 years after its release, on the dawn of Anno 117: Pax Romana,” the company wrote.
Speaking of the Roman-themed successor, Anno 117’s gameplay will be revealed for the first time in a trailer launching later today, on May 19, 2025, with a longer gameplay livestream on May 21, 2025, delivering even more footage and revealing brand-new features.
Anno 117 finally takes Ubisoft’s successful city-builder series to Antiquity, fulfilling a wish fans have been harboring for many years. While not a whole lot is known about the game yet, the developers have revealed that a military real-time strategy component will complement Anno’s economy management base this time around — Rome, after all, was not expanded peacefully.

With indie competitors like Pax Augusta bringing some excellent Roman city-building to the table recently, Ubisoft has its work cut out for itself. Given that Anno 1800 has been hailed as the best entry into the series so far, though, the developers could likely go into the upcoming title with lots of confidence.
