Every announcement from Hideo Kojima’s Beyond The Strand anniversary stream
By Dave Aubrey

Kojima Productions showcased a huge livestream ahead of Tokyo Games Show titled Beyond The Strand last night, September 22, and not only did it celebrate the tenth anniversary of the new Kojima Productions, but also gave us some tantalising glimpses at the future games coming from the studio, including OD and PHYSINT.
But that’s just the video games; we now know more information on the upcoming Death Stranding movie and newly announced theatrical anime. We’re breaking down all of that information and more below.
All Beyond The Strand event announcements
OD: Knock cast and first trailer
The stream’s first announcement and reveal was the first trailer for Kojima Productions’ upcoming horror game, OD. This game is being published by Xbox Game Studios, and features some truly incredible visuals based on the small amount we’ve seen so far. Scaredy cats will want to stay away, as it promises to be an intense horror experience. Xbox’s Phil Spencer was on stage, and described it as “extremely Kojima-san.”
Jordan Peele was previously confirmed to be working on OD alongside Kojima. The game is set to star Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier.
Death Stranding movie from A24 still in production
A film adaptation of Death Stranding was confirmed at the end of 2022, and A24’s Sam Hanson came on stage to talk about the project during the showcase. Michael Sarnoski is billed to direct, with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen producing. It’s still planned for a 2027 release, and will feature a brand new story within the world of Death Stranding.
Sarnoski also came on stage to talk about the project, he said “We’re trying to find another story in the same universe, that is both accessible to people that have never played the games before, but will also give something to the people that know the games really well.”
Death Stranding: Mosquito anime confirmed
Death Stranding is also getting a theatrical anime adaptation with a story written by Aaron Guzikowski and directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, with Kojima working as a producer.. It’s being produced by Line Mileage. We got to see a short teaser of what the anime will be like, but we’re set to get more announcements and information very soon.
Physint production has begun
PlayStation’s Hermen Hulst appeared in a video to talk a bit about Physint, which PlayStation Studios is publishing. Shortly after Kojima confirmed the cast of Physint, which will feature Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok (aka Don Lee, who also had a cameo in Death Stranding 2), and Minami Hamabe. Kojima promises that the game will have even more advanced features than OD, as it will take longer for it to arrive on the market.
Zaku Ludens, the Kojima Productions sake
We’re getting Kojima Productions sake (the Japanese alcohol), for some reason. It’s from the Shimizu Seizaburo Shoten brewery and, um… yeah, it’s booze.
The Kojima and friends power hour
For some reason, Kojima brings Geoff Keighley on stage, followed by George Miller, Guillermo Del Toro, and Mamoru Oshii. These filmmaking legends all appeared in Death Stranding 2 as main cast or cameos. You can watch this portion of the stream here.
Niantic Spatial X Kojima Productions
Kojima Productions is working on an AR game alongside Niantic Spatial, the team formerly responsible for the explosive Pokémon GO, and a bunch of other AR games that were barely as successful as that game. This game might be a while off yet, but we’re excited to see what they’ll make of it.
