Fortnite Blitz Royale introduces fast-paced matches and a new free item
By Ryan Woodrow

Fortnite’s latest limited-time mode is here, and this one is all about picking up the pace. While regular matches of Fortnite Battle Royale can take around 15-20 minutes if you make it all the way to the end, Blitz Royale is all about speed, with games designed to take no more than 5 minutes.
In this mode, you’ll drop into a much smaller map with just 32 players, all of whom start with a Medallion, meaning you’ll all start with a buff and with your rough location being broadcast on the minimap. This makes matches come to their climax a lot quicker, and for skilled players, it will be the quickest way to get a Victory Royale.
The mode is intended to get updates every week while it runs, with at least eight weeks of content planned before it disappears. It’s also bringing back several previous collaborations like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Most excitingly, if you log into Fortnite right now, then you will automatically have the free Blitz Pickaxe item added to your inventory.
