Genshin Impact 5.8 is coming with yet another voice actor change: Valeria Rodriguez has been replaced as Sucrose by an as-yet unnamed VA, as confirmed by the latest update’s patch notes. Additionally, some missing voice lines for Aether, Lumine, Yelan, and Xilonen have been added, confirming that their VAs have returned to work on the game.

Although Rodriguez didn’t outright announce the departure from Genshin Impact, a farewell post on social media made one day ahead of the update’s release pretty much spelled things out.

“I didn't wanna leave anything unsaid, so: For all the Sucrose fans who have loved my work, been following me from the release, supported me, and continue to support my new endeavors — thank you,” Rodriguez wrote on X.

Rodriguez was one of the people involved in the toxic online behavior against the VA of Kinich, Jacob Takanashi, who took over the role during the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Rodriguez’s replacement follows the departure of Keqing and Paimon’s VAs, who have similarly been regarded as troublemakers by the community due to their behavior during the recently-ended strike.

Earlier, Rodriguez was an outspoken supporter of a small initiative that called for a boycott of Natlan due to a perceived lack of diversity in the region’s characters — a movement that quickly fizzled out after making some ruckus online.

As usual for these cases, the character’s voice lines will be replaced over time, starting with the most recent content involving them.
