HoYoverse finally enables more Genshin Impact cross-progression between PlayStation and other platforms
By Marco Wutz

Update 5.8 for Genshin Impact has done away with some annoying hurdles for players who’re using PS4 or PS5 to play the game in addition to other platforms. Genesis Crystals – the title’s premium currency – previously was not usable on other platforms when bought on PlayStation and vice versa, but this update finally broke down that barrier. This goes for already existing as well as any newly bought Genesis Crystals.
Additionally, all battle pass rewards unlocked on PlayStation can now be claimed through other versions of Genshin Impact and vice versa. Before the update, this was not possible. Although unconfirmed, these details were likely part of HoYoverse’s early console exclusivity deal with Sony, which is also the sole reason why Horizon’s Aloy is an available character in the game — though she’s always been accessible on other platforms.
This is a major step forward for true cross-progression, which had hitherto been hampered by these hurdles.
However, HoYoverse’s work is not yet complete: There are still platform-exclusive items, such as skins, which can only be used on PlayStation and not in any other version of the RPG.
Version 5.8 also replaced the VA for Sucrose and added missing voice lines for several other characters.
