Helldivers 2 is giving out a free cape in memory of the PSN review-bombing incident

People were right, it’s a pretty good design.

Remember when Sony tried to force Helldivers 2 players on PC to make PlayStation Network accounts to continue playing the game and Steam users nuked the title’s review score to fight back? Well, even if you don’t, developer Arrowhead wants to make sure that you won’t forget the incident in the future.

As promised back when the issue was finally resolved – Sony was forced to give up its demands – the developer has used the graphs showing the influx of negative reviews at the time as the motif of a free commemorative cape that’s given out to all Helldivers 2 players on PC and PS5 starting on June 27, 2025.

The Pillars of Freedom cape will arrive in every player’s inbox over the course of the day — be aware that this is a rolling process, so it may take a bit of time before the item shows up in your mail.

“In honor of their unquestioning commitment to the defense of Managed Democracy, the Helldivers have been awarded a commemorative cape. The new uniform piece will be available in all Super Destroyer Armories as soon as the rollout is complete,” the developer wrote on X.

This isn’t the only review-bombing campaign Helldivers 2 survived since being released: During the recent defense of Super Earth, Chinese players began bombarding the game with negative ratings due to a misunderstanding of how the in-game event worked, though fortunately for the developer this incident was quickly resolved.
