Hideo Kojima, the man who once wanted to make your disc burn and smell of blood, or create a boss battle that lasted literal weeks, now wants to scan a real ghost into his Xbox horror game, OD: Knock.

A new trailer for OD landed last week during the Beyond the Strand anniversary livestream for Kojima Productions.

In the trailer, played mostly from a first-person perspective, a hyper realistic Sophia Lillis lights candles in a strange room before being grabbed from behind by clawlike hands.

The Unreal Engine game looks impressive, with Kojima stating that he's scanned real life locations to capture their feeling in-game. But he won't just stop at capturing life.

"For OD, I want to go around, all over the world where [there] are scary kind of places," Kojima said, via GamesRadar. "I want to scan a ghost for the first time and I want to get an award for that."

He went on to say that the "cracking" sound you hear in the trailer is real audio from an actual ghost in the studio. After capturing it, Kojima took Microsoft to the local shrine to make sure the game wasn't haunted.

"Maybe the ghost was there, but she's no longer there anymore," Kojima said. "But anyways, and that's why we went to the shrine together with Microsoft to make sure that we have a safe build of the game."

Movie director Jordan Peele is also involved in OD in some way, though details of the creative partnership haven't been revealed yet. Maybe he's going to track down the ghost.
