HoYoverse reveals Sparkle’s official height and confirms major Phainon inspiration

HoYoverse has shown behind-the-scenes snapshots from Honkai: Star Rail’s development at an educational presentation in China, revealing fun tidbits around some of the game’s most popular characters. Sparkle, for example, is known as a cute little psychopath, being one of the shortest adult characters in the game — but now we have confirmation: A piece of concept art revealed that her height is supposed to be around 1.36m. Definitely a short queen.

Phainon also featured heavily in the presentation, several slides being dedicated to inspirations for his visuals and skills. This confirmed something Marvel fans have been saying ever since the character’s skills were first showcased: Phainon throwing meteors at his foes in Khaslana form was inspired by Thanos using the Infinity Gauntlet to pelt his enemies with pieces of the moon.

The developers also confirmed that Himmel the Hero, a major character in anime hit Frieren, was a big inspiration for Phainon’s kind personality. Shouldering millions of cycles full of pain and suffering to bring salvation to his friends and never forgetting his purpose? Yes, that’s what Phainon the Hero would have done.

Gawain from Fate Grand Order – because it always goes back to Fate, somehow – and Viktor from Arcane were featured as inspirations as well.
