HSR 3.7 breaks Hidden Passages, so here’s a workaround

Avoid making this mistake.

HSR 3.7 is out and closes the epic saga of Amphoreus. As always, HoYoverse delivered a set of quality-of-life improvements to go with the update, but one of these currently seems to break the game.

One of the new areas – Great Tomb of the Nameless Titan, Nightmare’s Echo – contains a key you can activate, which causes all Hidden Passages of Janus to skip their usual animations and teleport you immediately. This is a welcome change to make exploring Amphoreus smoother.

Here is the problem: While the feature works great at the start, it breaks down when you enter a Hidden Passage that you’ve never used before, such as when you progress through the story.

Upon entering a brand-new Hidden Passage, the game transitions to the usual screen where you play the minigame of moving the patterns you see around to form one a symbol belonging to one of the Titans, thereby activating the Hidden Passage.

However, after activating the master key in the Great Tomb the game gets stuck after moving you to that screen and you can’t do anything.

Returning to the Great Tomb to deactivate the key once again, which is possible on paper, also doesn’t work in practice, because you have to use a Hidden Passage to get there and that’s broken as well.

Fortunately, there is a workaround: You can either hold the ALT button to align the symbol as usual or – if that doesn’t work for you for whatever reason – you can move your cursor to one side of the screen and then tab out of the game and back. This will also rotate the symbol, so aligning it this way to make the Passage work is possible.

Once you’ve deactivated the master key in the Great Tomb, Hidden Passages work as normal again. For the time being, avoid this otherwise neat quality-of-life improvement.
