The first anniversary of Wuthering Waves is underway with Version 2.3 of the game having been released earlier this week. This important milestone was accompanied by another big step: The open-world RPG was made available via Steam. That, naturally, led to one follow-up question by the community: Will the game work on Steam Deck, Valve’s handheld gaming PC?

So far, the answer to this question has been ‘No’ — even after the Steam launch. However, developer Kuro Games has now addressed this question in an official capacity, updating the game’s Steam description to include the following sentence: “We’re working to resolve Wuthering Waves’ compatibility with Steam Deck and will share updates in the community.”

Though there’s no guarantee that Kuro Games will be able to make it work, at least the players now know that the issue is being looked into by the team.

Wuthering Waves is among the more demanding gacha games, so performance is definitely a concern that would pop up once the title runs on Steam Deck, but in general the game seems like a perfect candidate for the handheld.

Infinity Nikki, which was also recently added to Steam’s library, supports the Steam Deck and runs reasonably well on the device, so it’s a great example for what WuWa fans have in mind.

In any case, it’s a great time to dive into – or return to – Wuthering Waves for the anniversary, since Kuro Games has prepared plenty of gifts and fun game modes, including one where all characters have been turned into adorable, tiny cubes that bounce around the map. WuWa’s banners also come with some heavy hitters in Version 2.3, such as the long-awaited Zani.
