Link and Zelda have finally been cast for the The Legend of Zelda live-action movie

We’ve known about The Legend of Zelda movie for quite a while now, but with the film set to release on May 7, 2027 (after the Zelda film was recently delayed) the biggest question on everyone’s mind is who will play the titular princess and her hero?
That question has finally been answered, as Nintendo representative director and original creator of the Zelda franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto, took to Twitter today to officially announce the casting.
For Zelda, we have 21-year-old British actor, Bo Bragason, who rose to prominence in her early teens in series like Three Girls and Moving On, most recently starring alongside Jenna Coleman and Tom Glynn-Carney in the BBC crime drama series, The Jetty. She also has one video game-adjacent credit under her belt, voicing a young Lunafreya in the animated film, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/KA5XW3lwul

Her silent protector (who probably won’t be so silent in this live-action film), Link, will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, a 16-year-old British actor who is most well-known for voicing Pinocchio in the 2022 remake of the Disney animated classic, but he also has a variety of other movie and TV roles on his resume.
Unfortunately, this hasn’t given us any idea of plot details, which means speculation is still rife as to what Zelda game this film’s events will be based on – or if it will end up being a completely new story set in Hyrule. Either way, we’re sure fans will have lots of fun spending years debating where it fits in the fabled Zelda timeline.
