Neil Newbom and Ben Starr join Dead Take cast
By Marco Wutz

Dead Take, the upcoming horror game from Surgent Studios and Pocketpair Publishing, will feature voice actors Neil Newbom and Ben Starr in lead roles.
Newbom is best known for his appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3, in which he played Astarion — a performance that won him a trophy at The Game Awards 2023. Among the rivals he trumped at TGA 2023 was Ben Starr, who was nominated in the same category for his role as Clive in Final Fantasy 16. More recently, Starr voiced Verso in hit RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Dead Take won’t be the first time both of them appear in the same game, though: Newbom had several smaller roles in FF16 and both actors voiced characters in Date Everything! as well as Warframe.
“As actors in games and beyond, Neil, Ben, and I have leaned on each other through some extremely gruelling times,” commented creative director and fellow actor Abubakar Salim. “In those moments, we exchanged some of the horror stories that built the foundations of this game. Not only do they bring considerable talent to the project, but they also helped create a space in which we could all be truly raw and honest. I can’t wait for you to see the calibre of their performances in Dead Take.”
Dead Take is set to come to PC later in 2025.
