No special treatment for Call of Duty, Microsoft confirms amidst discount removal

Previous DLC discounts for Game Pass subscribers have been dropped.

Microsoft recently raised the prices for Xbox Game Pass and removed subscribers’ ability to purchase games as well as DLC with a discount. Instead, players can earn points by playing and buying products, which in turn can be exchanged for discounts on select purchases. The points can also no longer be directly exchanged for additional subscription time.

Microsoft has confirmed that this policy is universal in a statement to Eurogamer: “This is not specific to any one game and reflects all games and DLC purchases.”

Some Call of Duty players believed that they had been unfairly targeted by the policy changes due to the media focusing on the fact that previously available Call of Duty DLC discounts had been scrapped alongside the general price increase, which is likely why Microsoft came out to clarify that the changes are not limited to Activision’s first-person shooter franchise.

For better or for worse, the policy changes are impacting everyone equally.
