Paramount and Microsoft sign deal on Call of Duty movie
By Marco Wutz

The age of video game adaptations continues with Call of Duty: Paramount and Microsoft have signed a deal on developing a blockbuster set in the franchise, according to Variety. The rights package also includes options to bring Call of Duty to TV as a series, though the film is the top item on the agenda for the moment.
Variety reported that no numbers surrounding the deal are available. Neither are details about the movie project itself, which could either use original characters and storylines or adapt one out of the many available campaign stories from the franchise’s history.
Paramount is one of the companies riding the recent wave of successful game adaptations, its Sonic the Hedgehog movie contributing to the trend.
David Ellison, the CEO and chairman of Paramount, called himself “a lifelong Call of Duty fan” and said that the partnership “is truly a dream come true” in a public statement.
Activision’s president, Rob Kostich, promised “visceral, breathtaking action” and said that the movie would “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place.”
The next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 7, will go into open beta in October 2025 ahead of launch.
