Randy Pitchford reveals Borderlands 4 map and collectibles
By Marco Wutz

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed the map of Borderlands 4, including the positions of the more than 200 Marcus Bobbleheads – collectible figurines – that can be found on it.
Pitchford explained that Kairos will be full of hidden locations only reachable with a lot of effort and imagination, but that these areas felt a little empty and therefore not as rewarding to find. This is why the team decided to introduce the Marcus Bobbleheads, which will be placed all around the map and tell their own unique stories.
All in all, there are well over 200 Marcus Bobbleheads hidden around Kairos. I expect most players will never see any of them. Some may find a few. A very, very small number of people will explore Kairos so completely that they might discover them all. Each has a story. 12/12 pic.twitter.com/OZBVD40CF2

Responding to fans who didn’t appreciate him spilling secrets like this ahead of launch, Pitchford said: “Quit clutching your pearls. Literally all the information will be instantly accessible with simple internet searches. If you want to enjoy the challenge, don’t look at or search for walkthroughs. Also, even with the map you’re looking for needles in haystacks. Good luck!”
Pitchford expects “most players” to not “ever see any of them” with or without the map, so he’s quite confident in the team’s ability to hide these collectibles in tucked away places.
Borderlands 4 is scheduled to be released on September 12, 2025, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 — that’s ten days earlier than its initial launch date.
