Stellar Blade’s port is Sony’s biggest PC launch since Helldivers 2

At least as far as peak concurrent user counts are concerned.

Shift Up’s sci-fi action game Stellar Blade, which was released as a PS5-exclusive game in 2024, is finally available on PC and made a fantastic start on the platform: According to the count on SteamDB, the title crossed 100,000 concurrent users (CCU) on Steam the day after launch — a number that overshadows even the PC ports of Sony’s first-party games.

In this metric, the best releases from Sony’s own development studios have been Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut with a peak of 77,154 CCU, God of War, which reached a peak of 73,529 CCU, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which peaked at 66,436 CCU.

This makes Stellar Blade the strongest PC launch for a Sony-published title since Helldivers 2, which is obviously hardly comparable with the single-player game — not to mention that it got simultaneous releases on PS5 and PC instead of being a console-exclusive that got ported.

Stellar Blade likely benefited from the timeliness of its port, which came a year after its launch on PS5, on top of its inherent quality and attractiveness. The PC version also comes with some extra content and Shift Up generated additional buzz with a timely collaboration between the game and its hit gacha title, Goddess of Victory: Nikke.

Shift Up recently confirmed the development of a Stellar Blade sequel and released the first details of its next game, Project Spirits.
