Major Umamusume balance update will finally make Guts useful

Cygames will drop the game’s first anniversary patch early.

Developer Cygames has announced that it will publish a major balance update for Umamusume on November 11, 2025, which is much earlier than fans have expected it to arrive. 

The coming changes were initially added to the Japanese version of the game during its first anniversary, so players believed that the global version would have to wait for them a full year as well. Cygames, however, made the wise decision to accelerate the schedule in this regard.

This update is a huge deal, since it will bring a substantial amount of buffs to characters, events, skills, and cards in addition to boosting the resources gained from career runs and nerfing status effects. What’s more, the patch will implement additional race mechanics that will make the Guts stat – currently a bit of an oddity without much purpose – useful and a lot more relevant.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that this Umamusume update will shake up the entire game for the better — and it’s a great time to do this with the Unity Cup scenario coming soon as well.

Umamusume balance update patch notes (November 11, 2025)

  • Increased monies and Support Points earned in Career.
  • Increased monies and Support Points earned at the end of a Career.
  • Increased parameters gained from Career end events.
  • Increased the number of recreation events for R Friend type Support Cards.
  • Increased the rate at which Friend type Support Cards events occur when they are in your deck.
  • Adjusted choice options for Career end events when Friend type Support Cards are in your deck.
  • Adjusted the probability of training failure when max energy is increased.
  • Friend type Support Card events may now occur at a low rate even if they are not in your deck.
  • Adjusted the parameters acquired from some trainee events.
  • Adjusted parameters that can be acquired from some Support Card events.
  • Adjusted the effects and conditions required for some skill activations.

Adjusted Careers to mitigate the effects of bad conditions:

  • Increased the probability to recover more energy when Resting while afflicted with "Night Owl."
  • Decreased the probability of being afflicted with a bad condition from some trainee events.
  • Removed mood decreases when being afflicted with a bad condition from some events.
  • Mood decreases when unable to train as a result of the "Slacker" condition now occur randomly.
  • Rest and Recreation during Summer Camp now cures bad conditions.
  • Resting now has a chance to cure the "Night Owl" and "Skin Outbreak" conditions.
  • Training with Etsuko Otonashi now has a chance to cure the "Slacker" condition.
  • Certain Career events now cure bad conditions.

Adjusted race systems:

  • Added the "Spot Struggle" system.
  • Added the "Dueling" system.
  • Added the "Runaway" aptitude skill.
  • Increased runners' last spurt speed based on their Guts parameter.
  • Adjusted systems involving hills on courses.
  • Adjusted racer positioning at the final corner, allowing them to line up more easily.
  • Skills that improve navigation now also improve passing ability during their duration.
  • Recovering endurance late-race now enables runners to exert full strength based on the endurance recovered.
