Owlcat announces Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy for PC, PS5, and Xbox
By Marco Wutz

Owlcat Games has announced that it’s currently developing a new CRPG set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe — Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Similar to its first successful 40k release, Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy appears to be based on the tabletop roleplaying game of the same name from Fantasy Flight Games.
Similar to the TTRPG, players will take up the mantle as an Inquisitor’s acolyte and try to root out forces of corruption and decay from the Imperium’s society. Owlcat says that Dark Heresy will greatly expand on the ideas from Rogue Trader and feature fully voiced dialogs.
Dark Heresy will take place during the Noctis Aeterna, the cosmic disaster that befell the galaxy following the fall of Cadia, and the mystery of the Tyrant Star, another familiar name for players of the TTRPG. Similar to Rogue Trader, players will be able to form an exciting party, which can include a veteran Catachan Guardsman as well as a Kroot mercenary. An Ogryn and an Eldar can be seen on the key art as well.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy will come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but doesn’t have a release date yet.
Lex Imperials release date and Season Pass 2 for Rogue Trader
Dark Heresy wasn’t the only announcement Owlcat brought to this year’s Warhammer Skulls Showcase, as the studio also revealed that Lex Imperialis, the second DLC for Rogue Trader, will be released on June 24, 2025, bringing a fresh 15-hour story, a new companion, and other content such as the Overseer archetype to the CRPG.
But there is more where that came from: Rogue Trader is getting even more DLC with Season Pass 2, which will contain two additional expansions — and their descriptions will make every 40k fan excited. DLC 3 brings Rogue Traders to a Necron vault curated by none other than the one and only Trazyn the Infinite. DLC 4 leads Rogue Traders to a massive and mysterious void ship graveyard, where madness awaits.
“Each of these DLCs will feature a new companion character, new quests deeply integrated into the main storyline, new mechanics, and deliver around 15 hours of gameplay,” Owlcat stated in a press release.
