After announcing a second year of post-launch support for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have detailed what kind of free content players can expect to arrive in the third-person shooter alongside the new paid offerings of the Season Pass.

Among the free additions is a fifth multiplayer map, which will be available for all PvP modes and is set on the industrial Hive World Avarax.

Chaos fans can look forward to a new game mode called Helbrute Onslaught. In this mode, two teams of Chaos Space Marines will vie for control of objectives. Capturing certain areas will then allow the succeeding team to control a powerful Helbrute, with a randomly determined user who participated in taking the necessary objective getting to steer the monster. The Helbrute will use a Thunder Hammer and a Plasma Cannon in battle.

The opposing team will gain extra points for hunting down the Helbrute. Once defeated, a new race for the control point begins, giving both squads another chance to get a Helbrute on their side. The mode injects a bit of asymmetry into the battle, but should prove to be a fun back and forth over control of the beast.

The new PvP map and Helbrute Onslaught are expected to arrive together with Update 10.0, alongside a new PvE mode that appears to feature different, rotating modifiers to enhance its replayability.

Naturally, new weapons are on the agenda as well — in fact, the Power Axe has already been revealed as one of the upcoming tools of war. Now, the Pyrecannon has been confirmed as yet another planned weapon. Yes, it’s a flamethrower.

Enemy variety will go up as well with three different versions of a new Majoris-type foe coming up — players will have to face mighty Chaos Spawn in PvE modes, each version bringing their own movesets and attacks.

Patch 10.0 will also see the kick-off for the next Season Pass, which includes the Black Templar Champion for the Bulwark class as DLC. Patch 10.0 and the Year 2 Season Pass are planned to launch in September 2025.
