Warner Bros. reportedly declines takeover offer from Paramount

The acquisition is not expected to be off the table yet, though.

The media empire of Paramount Skydance is looking to sate its hunger for expansion with the takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery in a deal that would have an impact on the gaming industry alongside movies and streaming. However, the plans seem to have hit a momentary roadblock: According to Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has declined Paramount’s first offer, deeming it not high enough.

Apparently, the executives at Warner Bros. Discovery believe that their planned division of the movie and streaming businesses will drive up the company’s value, allowing them to extract a higher offer from their suitor — as such, the deal is not off the table quite yet.

Skydance Games owns two video game studios, one of which released the VR game Behemoth last year, while the other one is working on two separate games using the Marvel and Star Wars IP under the leadership of Amy Hennig and Julian Beak.

While there is no information on Hennig’s Star Wars game yet, Beak’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is set to be released in 2026.

A potential acquisition would add Warner Bros.’ substantial gaming portfolio and IPs to Skydance’s assets, including Avalanche Software (Hogwarts Legacy), Rocksteady Studios (Batman Arkham series, Suicide Squad), and TT Games (LEGO series).
