Wildgate’s next updates bring point-defense mines and a beam-shooting artifact

Wildgate isn’t pulling phenomenal player numbers on Steam, but Moonshot Games’ chaotic and fun debut title continues on nonetheless, following the roadmap laid out ahead of launch — and the first content updates are about to arrive. The developers have confirmed that new ship loot, a new artifact type, new objects, and a new point of interest will be added over the next weeks.

A teaser has already revealed what some of these additions look like: The fresh POI looks like an ancient temple floating in space, complete with glowing runes on the surface of its cracked walls. There is also some sort of glowing statue, which might be interactive and have effects.

Perhaps most exciting are the teased artifact and ship loot additions. The artifact appears to be usable as a weapon, firing a continuous, powerful beam, while the new ship part looks like it’s a point-defense mine. Once laid, the mine automatically intercepts incoming projectiles. This could be a fantastic tool in several situations, from a last-minute chase to the wildgate to securing the areas against ambushes while the crew is working on exploring a POI.

DBLTAP’s Kirk McKeand called the title “one of the most inventive, exciting multiplayer games in years” in his Wildgate review.

The first piece of new content is set to arrive in Wildgate for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 7, 2025.
