HoYoverse reveals Ellen buffs in ZZZ

Ellen Joe is the first Zenless Zone Zero character to receive buffs in order to make her more competitive and HoYoverse has finally revealed the details of the upgrade package that will arrive with ZZZ 2.0 on June 6, 2025.

In short, Ellen will receive the following changes to her kit:

• New move – Basic Attack: Icy Blade
• New move – Basic Attack: Glacial Blade Wave
• Buffed move – Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush
• Buffed ability – Core Passive: Sharp-Toothed
• Buffed ability – Teamwork Ability: Rising Storm

The Main DPS of Victoria Housekeeping will receive a set of additional Basic Attacks to give regular attack combos a bit more punch and ease the transition into other moves.

Basic Attack: Icy Blade is automatically launched on the third hit of Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming, EX Special Attack: Sharknami, Dodge Counter: Reef Rock, and Assist Follow-Up. Icy Blade inflicts several instances of Ice DMG to all enemies in the area with additional Ice DMG being dealt to Medium and Large targets. Ellen gains Quick Charge following this attack, reducing Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush’s charge time.

Ellen can also launch Basic Attack: Glacial Blade Wave after the third hit of Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming, Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush’s Scissor Strike, Dodge Counter: Reef Rock, and Quick Assist by pressing Basic Attack if she has at least two Flash Freeze Charges. The attack consumes two Flash Freeze Charges to deal Ice DMG and transitions into the third hit of her Basic Attack.

Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush is getting a bit easier to charge up: If Ellen is hit while she charges the move, she ignores that instance of damage and completes the charge immediately.

Her Core Passive is getting an upgrade as well, allowing it to apply to Chain Attacks, Ultimates, and her two brand-new Basic Attacks. Her Teamwork Ability can be activated by Stun Agents in addition to Ice DMG Agents and Victoria Housekeeping Agents, giving her more teambuilding flexibility.

Players with Ellen on their roster can participate in the Shark Frenzy event following the release of ZZZ 2.0, which will unlock the buffs. You can even decide to toggle the changes on or off in Ellen’s skill menu, in case you want to compare her performance or prefer her old kit.
