ZZZ player finds work-in-progress area under Failume Heights due to glitch
By Marco Wutz

Though generally known to be highly polished, even HoYoverse’s games have their share of jank and so players sometimes find themselves glitching into walls or under the ground. This allows trapped users to literally look at the world from behind the scenes — and in the case of a ZZZ player, who recently got dropped under the map while initiating a hangout event, this went hand-in-hand with a look at the game’s development process.
As it turns out there’s an entire area under Failume Heights that’s still unfinished. Some of the rooms could be cellars or sewers under the city, but there is also an entire beachside hangar area to be found, hugging the cliffs Failume Heights sits on and leading under the rocks. The beachside area looks a lot more finished than the other rooms — the latter merely being grey blocks below ground at the moment.
Naturally, we don’t know if these areas were planned to be part of Failume Heights at one point during development and were abandoned, with their remnants simply staying on the map where no one could see them under normal conditions, or if these areas are still actively being worked on, in which case this would be an early look at upcoming content.
In any case, this is a lucky find and shows that ZZZ’s map still holds some secrets, be they a glimpse at the future or the past.
We might find out more about that soon, as ZZZ 2.1 with new characters Alice and Yuzuha is coming out in a couple of weeks and summer is the best time to visit the beach, after all.
