How to Unlock New Characters in Blackout

​How to unlock new characters in Blackout is one of the most exciting parts of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode. It gives players unique objectives to complete during a game with hopes of unlocking a new cosmetic character to use from either multiplayer or zombies.

Here's how to unlock every character in Blackout.

This list will go through every character in Blackout available for unlock. As new characters are added to Blackout, this list will be updated. The final step of each character challenge require players to keep an item in their inventory unless otherwise noted. Each challenge is also listed with a difficulty rating.

Multiplayer Characters:

- Battery (Hard)

- Get two kills with the War Machine grenade launcher found in crates

- Firebreak (Medium)

- Find a Burned Doll from a supply stash, kill or finish an enemy with a molotov.

- Nomad (Easy)

- Find the Juneau's Tags in a supply stash, kill two enemies without taking damage from them

- Prophet (Hard)

- Find the Ocular Prosthetic item from crates, finish the match with three perks active

- Ruin (Medium)

- Find the Punching Mitts item from either the red crane at Construction Site, the Lighthouse, the top of Asylum at Hanger 2 in Turbine, kill an enemy any way at close range

- Seraph (Hard)

- Get a kill with the Annihilator which is found in Firing Range after shooting six targets with a pistol. The Annihilator is found in the bunker near the targets

- Ajax (Easy)

- Find and finish with three pieces of Broken Armor Plating in your inventory

- Crash (Easy)

- Find the Poker Chips item in a medical stash, have at least 15 healing items in your inventory and finish in required placing

- Recon (Easy)

- Find the Ching Coin in a supply stash, don't take any storm damage and finish in required placing

- Torque (Easy)

- Find Torque's Note in a supply drop or stash, use two Razor Wires and one Barricade, finish in required placing.

How to Unlock New Characters in Blackout

Blackout Character Missions

- Reznov (Hard)

- Find the Ushanka Hat at either Estates or Asylum, get one long range kill (200 meters or more), finish in required placing

- ​Mason (Hard)

- Find the Stained White T-Shirt in a supply stash and hit the emergency broadcast button in Array, finish in required placing

- Woods (Hard)

- Find the Bandanna item north of Firing Range at the helicopter spawn, spend more than a minute in a chopper, win the match

- Menendez (Hard)

- Find the Locket from a supply drop, kill two enemies with a shotgun

- Hudson (Hard)

- Unlocked at Tier 200 of Operation First Strike

- Ranger (Easy)

- Unlocked at Echelon 20

- Frogman (Easy)

- Unlocked at Echelon 40

- Airborne (Easy)

- Unlocked at Echelon 60

- Seal (Easy)

- Unlocked at Echelon 80

- Battle Hardened (Easy)

- Unlocked at Echelon 80+

Zombies Characters

- Shadow Man (N/A)

- Unlocked via Blackout Pass

- ​Dempsey (Medium)

- Find the Juggernog Bottle and kill an enemy with a grenade

- ​Nikolai (Medium)

- Find the Russian Tanker Hat item and finish in the required placing

- Richtofen (Medium)

- Find either the Tanker Hat or Takeo's Letter to the Emperor, exchange either for the Blood Vial in Asylum, finish in the required placing

- ​Takeo (Easy)

- Find the Letter to the Emperor, don't use any equipment and finish in the required placing

- Bruno (Medium)

- Find the Mug Shot item and down an enemy with fists

- Diego (Medium)

- Find the Pulp Magazine and down an enemy with a headshot

- Scarlett (Hard)

- Kill an enemy with a vehicle while having the  Racing Goggles & Scarf item in inventory

- ​Shaw (Hard)

- Find the Alchemical Set, kill enemies with a Wraith Fire or Acid Bomb.

That's how every character in Blackout currently is unlocked. As new characters are released, this article will be updated accordingly.
