Blue Box will be offering their next game 'Abandoned' for free to players who purchased the previously unfinished project ''The Haunting: Blood Water Curse."

Blue Box game studio's upcoming PS5 game 'Abandoned' has been generating a lot of discussions. After a problematic launch for their Realtime Experience app, the discourse switched to a lookback at some of the studio's previous projects, many of which were cancelled before completion. The Haunting: Blood Water Curse was one of the few games that ended up charging players for the early access version, and was eventually pulled from sale.

In a recent interview with IGN, Hasan Kahraman, the head of Blue Box, discussed the negative reception surrounding the release of the Realtime Experience app. A lot of fan frustration came from the multiple delays to the release of the app. When the app did eventually launch, the promised trailer didn't actually reveal any new content. Instead, players were met with a clip of an obscured man walking down a hallway - which had already been shared on Twitter.

Fans began looking into the studio's complicated history, soon finding that a number of previous projects had been cancelled on Kickstarter, or never released. This discovery led many to brandish the studio as "scammers", calling for others to be wary of the studio's planned releases. Kahraman responded in the interview, saying that he understands the frustration that has come from this but that "they're calling me or Blue Box a scammer. That is the biggest thing that, even today, is still bothering me.”

As an act of good faith, Blue Box is offering an Abandoned bundle to players who previously purchased the early access version of The Haunting: Blood Water Curse. The bundle will be available for free to eligible players, but it's not clear what will be included in the bundle other than the game.

Additionally, Blue box has stated that they plan to release The Haunting as a full and complete game, also for free. The plan is to release The Haunting alongside the first gameplay trailer for Abandoned, which is currently due to release in a few months.

No concrete release date has been given for Abandoned or The Haunting: Blood Water Curse. Many players will be keeping an eye on the release of both games, seeing if Blue Box can break the mold of their unreleased games.
