Animal Crossing: New Horizons' New Year's Eve Event

New Year's Eve is hours away. Residents in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are preparing to celebrate 2021 with some fun event activities and items you can get. The New Year's Eve Countdown event starts on Dec. 31 every year. Resident Services will have event decorations starting at 5 a.m. and the event itself will kick off at 11 p.m.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons' New Year's Eve Event

During the event, players will spot that the morning and afternoon are generally quiet, until 11 PM when the Villagers and Isabelle will begin to act more excited and wear New Year's Hat. Players should talk to Isabelle and Tom Nook outside the Resident Services to obtain free items from them. These items include a Light Stick and Party Poppers. While talking to Isabelle and Tom Nook, players should observe that the Resident Services has been decorated with countdown timer sign, balloons, and carts. Much like real life, the Resident Services is closed on Dec. 31. Services like Tom Nook's construction services and Isabelle's island evaluation will not be available.

Players can also purchase New Year's hats from Tom Nook's stall. They are only available during New Year's Eve and cost 500 Bells each. The hats come in eight color variants: red, pink, yellow, light blue, green, orange, blue, and purple. Then at 11 p.m., special music will be heard in the island until 11.55 p.m. At 11.59 p.m., the clock will start the countdown and Villagers will start waving the Light Stick in the air. Players can wave the Light Stick given from Isabelle earlier. Fireworks will start when the clock strikes 12 a.m. on Jan. 1. The New Year celebration will last until 2 a.m.
