It looks like some hackers really do need their special programs to stand a chance, after all.

It's not a stretch to say that no honest player likes having a hacker in their game. Whether it's ruining the metrics of the match or simply wreaking havoc on what would've otherwise been a fun and challenging fight, cheaters always find a way to suck the joy out of a lobby in one way or another. Fortunately, some players are taking retribution into their own hands—like the poster of this clip on the official Apex Legends subreddit board.

Apex Legends Hacker Out-Maneuvered by Lava

User Ameen32 posted a minute-long clip to the subreddit board on Monday, Dec. 20, showcasing a hacker making a pretty major miscalculation in the final fight of the match.

The clip is taken from the point of view of a spectator, watching a player who was likely identified as a bit shady, to begin with—allegedly using an aimbot, wallhacks, and pings. The hacker manages to get some shots on their primary opponent who is able to use a nearby jump pad as an escape. The hacker chases them up but neglects to realize the pad is faced outward toward the limits of the ring.

They attempt to take down their opponent to no avail and are unable to correct their trajectory in time. Finally, they land in the lava—unable to escape or climb out—and end up dying from exposure. Oops!

Other players found this both hilarious and satisfying. Several pointed out that the hacker clearly needed their illicit bonuses to play the game if they fell for such an obvious strategy.

"This is funny on a whole new level like imagine being so Trash at the game that you can’t even win with hacks," one user wrote.

Another replied, "Lmao imagine using hacks and still losing."

This isn't a surprising outcome, of course. Relying on shortcuts will only get a player so far—especially in a competitive game like Apex Legends. Real, skilled players are a lot more difficult to take down regardless of the litany of cheats at one's disposal.
