Apex Legends Makes $1 Billion in Earnings Prior to Release on Nintendo Switch and Mobile Editions
Apex Legends has made $1 billion in earnings, and it has yet to be released on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. While the game is available on the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, its availability on the Nintendo Switch will allow for it to enter a market that is growing exponentially.
According to a transcript of the press release, Apex Legends has a 30% growth in new players each year.
Blake J. Jorgensen, the COO and CFO of Electronic Arts Inc., is on record stating that it has made a net revenue of $1.7 billion. It is projected to deliver the company $500 million in net bookings this year, which is more than what they initially projected of $300 million or $400 million. On top of that, experimenting with different game modes has paid off with an average growth rate of 14% each season totaling a 65% yearly increase.
These earnings have all happened before the mobile and Nintendo Switch release of the game, which both players and analysts project will help the revenue grow due to the size of the market as well as the easier accessibility. Nintendo Switch sales have gone up by 35% in this year alone, and its size proves easy to carry so users may enjoy playing Apex Legends in any place instead of having to be plugged to a console or personal computer.
Jorgensen has made it clear that Electronic Arts wishes to remain in the global market. Japan is the second-largest market for Apex, and the global edition is predicted to help boost the sales of the company. As if expanding onto different consoles were not enough, Electronic Arts also wants its game to be available in more countries, such as China. The latter may take some time, however.
With over 24.1 million Nintendo Switch units sold in 2020 alone, new players who wish to try the free-to-play game will increase the earnings of EA. Not to mention that there are over 3.5 billion smartphone users worldwide who could potentially be new Apex Legends players. The stock of Electronic Arts went up by 16% after it earned 10 million new players within a few days. In any case, it appears that Apex Legends will be a game that will grow for many consecutive years to come according to the COO and CFO of Electronic Arts Inc.
