Professional Apex Legends player Brandon "aceu" Winn's recent opinion on Ranked Mode has stirred up debate within the community.

Several players of Respawn Entertainment's strategic shooter, Apex Legends, have voiced their displeasure with the current state of competitive play. Ranked mode, where this part of the community originates, has been the site of controversy for quite some time. Players have cited various issues from mismatching skills in lobbies, inappropriate demotions, and more.

Now, one professional Apex Legends player has taken to social media to voice his supposed fix for the ire: solo-exclusive Ranked.

Aceu Suggests a Solo Ranked Mode in Apex Legends

Aceu isn't the first to express this opinion, of course. Twitch streamer and content creator Panduhhxo (@Panduhhxo) posted the same idea about a week prior on March 26.

"You know what would make ranked in Apex actually mean something in terms of 'skill'," Panduhh wrote, "Actually having to solo queue. Remove queu'ing with a premade. Would honestly make it more interesting and something to actually work for."

The general logic behind this, of course, is that a solo-exclusive experience removes the dead weight that could come with being paired with others in a dependent scenario. The only player they would need to worry about would be themselves. It would also eliminate the two/three-stack domination issue that has become common in Apex Legends Ranked lobbies.

As with anything, however, the sentiment is far from universal. Other players in the comments were quick to voice their dissent for the idea, stating that it would take away from the "team-based" strategy necessary to play the game with others. How else would players learn team synergy and composition?

The middle ground appears to be a mix of both: adding a solo-queue exclusive option for players who want to test their mettle one-on-one.

Could a solo ranked experience be the missing factor in Apex Legends?
