Now that the grind to unlock any and everything in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has officially begun, it's perhaps no surprise that many are wondering whether or not the game features Prestiges.

Since its introduction to the series with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007), Prestiging has notably been one of the foundational pillars of COD multiplayer progression as a way to differentiate just who in your lobby has been staying on top of the grind.

Here's a breakdown of whether or not Prestiging is in Modern Warfare 2.

Are There Prestiges in Modern Warfare 2?

There aren't Prestiges in Modern Warfare 2 just yet. This is because Seasonal Progression, as well as a "new Battle Pass system," is set to go live in MW2 alongside the launch of Season 1 and Warzone 2.0 on Nov. 16.

Infinity Ward has yet to go in-depth about what the leveling system will look like in MW2, but considering it has been described as a "Seasonal Prestige," COD fans can expect it to work somewhat as it did in the last two series titles.

Replacing the Officer Ranks from Modern Warfare (2019), both Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard implemented a unified and continuous leveling progression across Multiplayer and Warzone. Once players reached Level 55, they will be able to enter the Seasonal Levels and begin at Seasonal Level 1, keeping everything they have unlocked through the Military Ranks. Each Season, players were given between three and four new Prestiges to reach.

Of course, being that MW2 and Warzone 2 have been described to be ushering in the "next era of Call of Duty," it will be interesting to see if any changes were made to the Prestige formula once it's officially released.

For now, MW2 players should focus on getting through the game's first 55 Ranks in order to unlock all of the base Perks, Weapons, Attachments, Scorestreaks and more.
