Arlo Pokemon GO April 2023: How to Beat

Niantic, Pokémon Company

The Team Rocket leaders in Pokémon GO are back in the month of April to pose a final last challenge before players are able to fight Giovanni. Here is a guide on dealing with Arlo, one of the leaders.

Arlo is the leader associated with Candela and Team Valor, and is known to be quite difficult when looking at his teams in previous months. With a team like the one he has for April, which contains Pokémon like Blaziken and Scizor, we thought to make up a small guide to help deal with Arlo.

Arlo Pokemon GO April 2023: How to Beat

Arlo will be bringing a number of rotating Pokémon in the second and third phase, but in the first phase, players can always expect a Shadow Teddiursa. In the rounds after, players will see Pokémon like Golurk, Hypno, Luxray and Scizor, to name a few.

First Pokémon - Shadow Teddiursa

Teddiursa is a Normal-type Pokémon, so it can be effectively dealt with by using Fighting-type Pokémon, here are a few that can help players a lot:

  • Lucario (Fighting- and Steel-type) - Counter and Power-Up Punch
  • Conkeldurr (Fighting-type) - Counter and Dynamic Punch
  • Machamp (Fighting-type) - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Second Pokémon - Shadow Blaziken, Golurk or Hypno

This second Phase contains Blaziken, a Fire- and Fighting-type, Golurk, a Ghost- and Ground-type and Hypno, a Psychic-type Pokémon. Bringing a Psychic-, Grass- and/or a Dark-type respectively will help players out a lot when dealing with any of these Pokémon.

  • Blaziken: Tapu Lele (Fairy- and Psychic-type) - Confusion and Moonblast
  • Golurk: Torterra (Grass- and Ground-type) - Razor Leaf and Frenzy Plant
  • Hypno: Bisharp (Dark- and Steel-type) - Snarl and X-Scissor

Third Pokémon - Shadow Banette, Luxray or Scizor

Banette is a Ghost-type Pokémon, so bringing a Dark- or Ghost-type Pokémon can help a lot in this fight. Conversely, Luxray is an Electric-type Pokémon, so having a Ground-type to exercise its immunities to Electric-moves can be incredibly beneficial. Finally, Scizor is a Bug- and Steel-type, so bringing a Fire- or Fighting-type will get it off the field quickly.

  • Banette: Houndoom (Dark- and Fire-type) - Snarl and Crunch
  • Luxray: Garchomp (Ground- and Dragon-type) - Mud Shot and Earth Power
  • Scizor: Infernape (Fire- and Fighting-type) - Fire Spin and Close Combat

Players who can successfully defeat Arlo will be guaranteed 1,000 Stardust and two item bundles that can contain varying items.
