The upcoming popular first-person shooter video game Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been the toast of the town for the series' fans. It is the sixth installment of the Black Ops series and the 17th installment in the larger Call of Duty series. A direct sequel of Call of Duty: Black Ops that was released 2010, Cold War is set to be launched on Nov. 13, 2020. Here's what we know about its game modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Game Modes

There are several new game modes for the multiplayer play combined with more extensive customization and new map elements and dynamics. Below are the game modes which feature new and returning game modes:

1. Fireteam: Dirty Bomb

The new multiplayer experience will feature Black Ops Cold War's largest maps and "Dirty Bomb."

Players: 40 players, 10 Fireteams.

Round win/lose condition: Teams need to collect and deposit uranium into "Dirty Bombs." These bombs can wipe out certain parts of the map due to radiation expansion. Teams earn points by eliminating enemies, depositing uranium, and detonating bombs.

Match win condition: the Fireteam that reaches the score limit first wins.

2. VIP Escort

This revived game mode requires players to escort a player (randomly selected) to the extraction point. This player to be escorted is designated as the VIP each round.

Players: Up to six players per team, one designated VIP, no respawns in the round. Teammates revival is available. Players taken out go to downed state.

Round win/lose condition: The escorting team will win if either the VIP successfully makes it to one of the two extraction sites or the opposing team is eliminated. The escorting team loses if either the VIP is dead or round timer runs out.

Match win condition: First team to win four rounds wins the match.

3. Combined Arms: Assault

The classic capture-the-flag game.

Players: 16 to 24.

Round win/lose condition: Teams need to capture objectives on the map. The first team that captures the objective will activate a new objective zone closer to the enemy's base. As more kills are secured and zones captured, the amount of time available to capture the next zone decreases.

Match win condition: If overtime occurs, the first team to capture a single neutral zone wins.

4. Combined Arms: Domination

Basically taking the Domination game mode to a larger scale.

Players: 16 to 24.

Round win/lose condition: Depending on the maps, players fight over zones and capture points. Players will have access to vehicles such as Tanks, Snowmobiles, Wakerunners, and Gunboats. Players respawn upon death. No half-time.

Match win condition: The first team to reach 400 points wins.

5. Team Deathmatch

Elimination-based brawl between two teams.

Players: from 10 to 12.

Round win/lose condition: Standard Team Deathmatch game with time limit of 10 minutes. Players respawn immediately upon death. Eliminating more members of the opposing team gets team closer to victory.

Match win condition: The first team to acquire the target number of kills wins.

6. Domination

Two teams battling for control over three locations: A, B, and C.

Players: 10 to 12.

Round win/lose condition: Teams need to stand within objectives (A, B, and C) for some period of time to capture it. Once captured, the capturing team earns one point every few seconds multiplied by the number of objectives captured. Players respawn immediately upon death. Halftime occurs when a team earns 100 points.

Match win condition: the first team to earn 200 points wins.

7. Hardpoint

Capturing rotating objective area "Hardpoint" or "hill" never fails to excite CoD players.

Players: 10 to 12.

Round win/lose condition: Teams must rush to secure a "hardpoint" on the map and repel the area from the enemies. Holding the hardpoint increases the teams' score, but if no players are in the hardpoint, no points are gained. The mode is 5 minutes long. Objective zones rotate every minute.

Match win condition: The first team to reach 250 points or earn the highest point within 5 minutes wins.

8. Control

A popular game mode from Black Ops 4 is coming back.

Players: 8 to 10.

Round win/lose condition: There are two control points, and the attacking team needs to capture both control points on a limited number of lives before time runs out. The defending team needs to defend the points until time runs out. Thirty lives are given to both teams. The control points are captured in segments, so once one segment is captured, it remains captured.

Match win condition: The first team to win three rounds wins the match.
