One Apex Legends development team member has confirmed that private lobbies are being worked on for the game.

Custom matches and private lobbies aren't a new feature for battle royales. In fact, it isn't a unique option for the genre, at all. You could even say it's common. Several games across multiple categories include a mechanic for players to set up, customize, and publish private games for others—whether that's over a wireless connection or simply for players all sitting on the same couch.

What better way to unwind with friends than with a tailored game that provides all the mechanics you want with none of the ones you don't?

Apex Legends Private Lobbies Release Date

There is currently no available release date for a private lobby option in Apex Legends.

Chad Grenier, Apex Legends Game Director, confirmed the mode was underdevelopment back in July. In a response to a fan question on Twitter regarding private lobbies, Grenier stated that the team had already been working on it. However, how long they had been working and when players would see the result have yet to be revealed.

"Any closer to a release of Apex private lobbies being available to everyone?" User @BrashThaGod wrote, tagging Grenier for a response.

Grenier replied moments later, writing, "Still in development, no ETA yet but will have a better idea of which season soon."

Unfortunately, that's the last word on private lobbies for the time being. There's still no telling when players can expect to see the mode, what season it will be ticked for, or any specifics that will be included.

Like other custom match modes, we can assume players will be able to set the map, the number of players desired, toggle teams, and protect it all with a password. Players could see it as an option when selecting what type of game they want to play that day—save for Ranked, which should remain untouched to level the playing field. However, DBLTAP cannot confirm any of this at the time of writing.
