Do you want to be the most feared summon-spec'd necromancer in Diablo II: Resurrected? We've put together a few tips to help you flesh out your build.

Diablo 2 Resurrected: Necromancer Summoner Build Tips

Unsurprisingly, your main skill tree will be your Summoning Spells. In this tree, your two most important skills are:

  • Skeleton Mastery
  • Golem Mastery
  • Raise Skeleton
  • Summon Resist

Your skeletons will be your primary damage proxies. Treat them well and provide them with the proper support and you'll soon have an army at your disposal. Obviously, you can cast this spell on any fallen monster to make it your soldier. You may want to pick up Revive, as well, if you find yourself getting particularly attached.

Golems are a bit more complex, but—when able to be brought to the field—can do damage that will take the pressure off your clattering squadron of bones. The type of golem you specialize in is up to you, but you should keep in mind that each has its own pros and cons.

Clay Golems have the highest attack rating and will also slow enemies so your other summons can catch and hit them with greater ease—while also keeping them from reaching you before they die. They have the most base Life. However, summoning one of these also costs the most mana.

Blood Golems cost the least mana to summon, but their only real ability is converting 3/4 of their received damage into Life.

Iron Golems give off thorn damage and reflect any hits they receive up to and above its damage output. However, it has the lowest attack rating.

Fire Golems provide extra fire damage, absorb incoming fire damage to transform into Life, and give off extra Holy Fire damage, but are average in every other aspect.

Necromancers may also want to pick up Corpse Explosion from their Posion & Bone Spells tree and an assortment of curses they deem necessary.

Stat Distribution

Shocking no one, Vitality will be your greatest stat in D2R as a Summoner Necromancer. You should only spend points in Strength and Dexterity to be able to equip the gear you need. Additionally, Energy can be ignored—but we recommend putting a few points in there, just in case.

Gear Suggestions

Players should look for the following armor:

  • Head: Harlequin Crest
  • Neck: Mara's Kaleidoscope
  • Body: Enigma
  • Waist: Arachnid Mesh
  • Hands: Trang-Oul's Claws, Magefist
  • Feet: Marrowwalk

We recommend these weapons:

  • Primary: Heart of the Oak
  • Off-Hand: Monarch
  • Runewords: Spirit, Beast, Call to Arms, Enigma

These trinkets should be the best for summon-based necromancers:

  • Rings: Stone of Jordan, Bul-Kathos’ Wedding Band
  • Charms: Annihilus, Hellfire Torch, Graverobber's/Shimmering/ Charm of Balance, Gheed's Fortune
