Fortnite Galaxy Cup 2.0 Announced
The Fortnite Galaxy Cup will return on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, Epic Games announced Wednesday.
Like its predecessor, Galaxy Cup 2.0 is coming back to give Android players the opportunity to unlock a brand new Outfit, Back Bling, and Wrap before anybody else. Here's a breakdown of all the details regarding the upcoming event.
Once again, Galaxy Cup 2.0 will be open only to eligible Fortnite players on Android devices. Before competing, players are required to have 2FA enabled on their Epic account.
In order to ensure the integrity of competitive play, and that the event is "fun, fair, and free from toxic behavior," Epic Games has provided a full, written set of tournament rules that can be found at the Galaxy Cup 2.0 official rules page.
Galaxy Cup 2.0 will be a Solo format and the first Fortnite tournament to use the Arsenal LTM mode. According to Epic, the LTM was chosen due its tight match length and popularity in the mobile community.
In Arsenal, all players start with the same powerful weapon, and eliminating a player grants a weapon of slightly lesser power. The first to make it through every weapon, from best to worst, earns the Victory Royale.
For this Cup, a Victory Royale rewards players seven points, and each elimination rewards one point. Players will also get a point for playing in each match.
Players can compete in a maximum of 25 matches in their region’s three-hour time window, and the specific timing for each region can be found in the Compete tab in-game.
Players in each region will be able to win the Galaxy Grappler Outfit, Hands of the Galaxy reactive Back Bling and the Vortextual Wrap, long before they become available in the Item Shop at a later date. The OG Llamalaxy Spray will also be available to all players who earn at least 20 points.
