The Golden Apple Archipelago is a limited-time region in Genshin Impact, and to unlock the entirety of the region, players will need to complete the event quest, "Midsummer Island Adventure".
miHoYo has released all four acts of "Midsummer Island Adventure," and players should aim to complete it before the event ends on June 28. Here's a step-by-step guide for how to complete the quest and unlock the Golden Apple Archipelago.
Genshin Impact Golden Apple Archipelago Quest Guide
To participate in the event, players must be Adventure Rank 21 or higher. You'll also need to have completed the Archon Quest "Prologue: Act 3 Song of the Dragon and Freedom" and Klee's story quest, "Trifolium Chapter: Act I - True Treasure." The Adventure Rank requirement to unlock Klee's story quest is lowered to 21 during the event, and it won't require a Story Key, so players can take this opportunity to complete the quest.
Act I: Mysterious Islands: Journey to the Unknown
To begin the quest, find Klee in the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and talk to her. She'll tell you that the mysterious Dodo King has sent her a letter, inviting her to a test at the Golden Apple Archipelago. Follow the quest prompts to talk to several people in Mondstadt, including Jean, Barbara, and Venti.
Venti will provide you with a way to reach the Golden Apple Archipelago. Once you arrive, you'll find a Waverider that can sail across the ocean. Use the Waverider to follow the Glimmering Beacons, find the three other islands, and light their Teleport Waypoints. Each time you light a Teleport Waypoint, the fog will lift and you'll unlock that section of the map.
Along the way, you'll find Hilichurl camps in the middle of the ocean, so use your cannons to blow them away and collect the chests.
Return to the first island to complete the quest. This will unlock the "Main Cannon, Make Ready... Fire!" mini-game.
Act II: Summer Vacation: Proceed With Caution
Begin the quest at Pudding Isle and wait until the designated time. Klee will tell you she noticed some strange devices in the water. Talk to Klee, Barbara, and Jean, and then head to your Waverider to blow up the strange devices.
After blowing up the devices, a cutscene will play, and you'll see the islands rising out of the water, unlocking much more area for you to explore. Klee will direct you to an island in the middle of the archipelago with a large circular platform.
Sail to the island, and follow the quest prompts to investigate the items there. Once you're done, in addition to quest rewards, you'll receive a Wind-Blessed Harpastum, used to participate in the puzzles and mini-games scattered around the archipelago. You'll also unlock the "Whirlpool off to Starboard... Full Speed Ahead!" mini-game.
Act III: Dodo-King of the Sea: Lying in Wait
To begin the quest, teleport to Pudding Isle and wait until the designated time again. Follow the quest prompts to head to various islands and meet up with your friends from Mondstadt.
You'll soon return to the central isle with the circular platform, and this time, you'll have a component to activate the device in the center of the platform. Insert the component, and the device - the mechanical humanoid from Inazuma, Maguu Kenki - will come to life. Be prepared for a boss fight.
Maguu Kenki will parry attacks from a distance, so make sure you have a short-ranged character who wields a sword, claymore, or polearm in your party. Maguu Kenki also has 30% Anemo and Cryo resistance, so consider choosing a main DPS who doesn't use those elements.
Once you've defeated Maguu Kenki, head to the isle with a large bubble. You'll be prompted to investigate the surroundings, and then place three crystals at the gigantic conch to finish the quest. You'll now have access to the Maguu Kenki World Boss fight, and the "Samurai Sighted... To Arms!" challenge.
Act IV: The Final Riddle: A Secret Uncovered
Begin the quest by returning to the Gigantic Conch and waiting until the designated time. You'll see three fish where you left the crystals; catch them to retrieve their scales.
Then, talk to Klee and insert the scales into the mysterious device. A cutscene will play, and you'll complete the quest.
Completing this quest unlocks a Crafting Table on the island, as well as recipes for Harpastum Bombs, which are used in the final mini-game challenge, "Harpastum Bombs Loaded... Blow 'Em Away!"
Together, the four chapters of the story quest will reward you with 240 Primogems, 12 Hero's Wit, and 120,000 Mora.
