The Tracing the Stars I quest line is one of the first players can take on in Season of the Lost, and it tasks players with tracking down five Atlas Skews scattered around the map. Along the way, you'll run into a mandatory secondary quest that feeds into Tracing the Stars I. Here's what you need to know to complete the quest.

How to Complete Tracing the Stars in Destiny 2

To get started on Tracing the Stars I, you'll have to finish both the introductory quest for Season of the Lost and the main seasonal quest, Wayfinder's Voyage I. Tracing the Stars I will become available from the Wayfinder's Compass in the HELM after you finish a run of Astral Alignment.

Tracing the Stars I has four steps, not including the side mission that will pop up in the middle:

  1. Travel to the H.E.L.M. and speak to Queen Mara Sov
  2. Collect Atlas Skews within the Divalian Mists, Spine of Keres, and Nearby Lost Sectors (5 total)
  3. Connect the recovered Atlas Skews to an Atlas Terminal
  4. Return to the H.E.L.M. and debrief at the Compass.

Queen Sara Mov can be found by entering the HELM, heading right and taking the stairs down to the portal at the end of the catwalk. She'll be inside.

To start collecting Atlas Skews, head first to Divalian Mists. Teleport to the location and head northeast until you find a cliffside. Look over the edge and you should see a couple of rocky outcroppings, the lower of which holds the Atlas Skew.

Next, head to the center of the Divalian Mists and then slightly to the east, toward the gate that leads to Rhaesilvia. Along the way you should see a cave entrance partially blocked by rocks. Head to the right of the rocks and you should find a way into the cave, where you'll grab the second Atlas Skew.

The third Atlas Skew is in the Bay of Drowned Wishes, a Lost Sector behind the spawn location in Divalian Mists. Once you're through the entrance, keep the wall to your right. The first cave entrance you find will lead to the Atlas Skew.

The fourth Atlas Skew is in the Spine of Keres, which you can reach by taking a road north and out of Divalian Mists. Look for an ice passage, and take it to its far end, where you'll find a destroyed road. Cross the destroyed road, then head straight into the castle and climb up to its throne room. You'll find the fourth Atlas Skew in between two benches on the top floor of the castle.

Spine of Keres is also home to the fifth and final Atlas Skew. Follow the same path as the fourth Skew, then stop just outside the castle. Use a Tincture of Queensfoil and cross over the bridge to the floating islands. When you see a long, dark shore to your right, keep going straight until you see a big tree on one of the islands. Make your way to that island and you'll find the final Atlas Skew beside the tree.

When you grab that fifth Atlas Skew, you'll have to start A Hollow Coronation. Open the Director tab and select the HELM. Go through the portal you traversed to find Queen Sara Mov and you'll find yourself in the Caliburn Gatehouse. Use the Atlas Skews as directed and you'll be ready to claim your reward for Tracing the Stars I.
