How to Solve the Converted Fringe Tower in Elden Ring

The Converted Fringe Tower is one of several potentially mystifying puzzles in Elden Ring. Even with the typically cryptic hints the game provides, it's hard to know exactly how to lift the magical blue and gold barrier restricting entry to the tower. Here's what you need to know to get inside the Converted Fringe Tower and claim the rewards waiting therein.

You'll need two things to complete the Converted Fringe Tower: a Glintstone Crown and the Erudition gesture. The crown you'll likely get by completing the academy of Raya Lucaria; enemies there drop these crowns with some frequency. The list of compatible crowns includes the Twinsage Glintstone Crown, the Olivinus Glintstone Crown, the Karolos Glintstone Crown, the Lazuli Glintstone Crown and the Witch's Glintstone Crown.

The Azur, Lusat, Haima and Hierodas Glintstone Crowns won't work for this puzzle.

Converted Fringe Tower Puzzle Solution

Slightly trickier to collect is the Erudition gesture. You'll have to progress through Thops' quest line. We have a full guide here, but the gist of it is this: meet Thops at the Church of Irith, just beyond the Godrick boss arena. Speak to him and he'll tell you you need an Academy Glintstone Key to get into Raya Lucaria, and that he hopes one day to return to the Academy — but he doesn't have his own key.

After you've gotten inside Raya Lucaria, you'll find a second Academy Glintstone Key on a corpse hanging from a chandelier in the Church of the Cuckoo. You can reach it by progressing through the rooftops of the Academy.

Bring it back to Thops and he'll teach you the Erudition gesture.

Now that you have both the crown and the gesture, bring them to the blue barrier at the Converted Fringe Tower. Put on the crown and perform the gesture. The crown will glow, and the barrier will dissolve away.

Climb the stairs to the top of the tower and loot the chest you find to pick up the Cannon of Haima and the Gavel of Haima, a pair of sorceries.
